Tax Investigation
A tax investigation is when HMRC reviews your financial affairs to ensure that the information you’ve submitted in your tax returns is complete and correct. HMRC may investigate:
•Income tax and self-assessment returns
•Corporation tax
•VAT returns
•PAYE and National Insurance records
•Capital gains declarations
Investigations may be triggered randomly, due to discrepancies in your returns, or as a result of third-party information. There are three main levels of tax investigation:
•Random Check – A general check regardless of risk.
•Aspect Enquiry – HMRC investigates a specific part of your return.
•Full Enquiry – A detailed review of your entire tax return and accounts.
Whether you are individual , a sole trader or a company director, we provide tailored support at every stage of the investigation.
